Pigtauranan "Sweet" Typica
Home to the Manobo tribe and several endemic birds and plants, Sitio Pigtauranan sits at the foothills of Mount Kalatungan.
With its rich volcanic soil and unique microclimate, the Manobos initially cultivated coffee for commercial use as well as for their own consumption. However, due to the price drop of coffees in the 1960s, they decided to replace it with sugarcane and corn.
Today, coffee cherries from different areas of Mount Kalatungan are brought to Sitio Pigtauranan either by foot, habal-habal (motorcycle taxi), carabao (water buffalo), or horse, in areas where transportation is inaccessible. Coffees brought to this mill are either washed or naturally processed by the farmers with the help of the Kalsada team.
